Exasperated and done I'm looking for positive suggestions from our community.

Due to a serious illness last year I lost everything and now I'm healthy and trying to get my life back.

Eight days from now my rent will be up and I will, for real, be on the street. I have been job hunting for a month now....I can't even get a job flipping burgers. I have been filling out applications everywhere, anywhere from 2 to 10 a day and, following up on them. I have never seen it so difficult to find work. During one of the few interviews I've had, I was told my pay history is a problem...I made too much money in the past. I'm not looking to get rich, I just want to pay the bills and have a roof over my head. I'm not a drug addict and have no criminal history, the only bad thing on my record is an unpaid parking ticket.

I honestly don't know where to go from here and I've reached my maximum in frustration. If I had any idea it was going to be this hard I'd have let the illness win. Any ideas?
